DTF Print Heat Press Instructions
1. Pre-Press the Garment
- Lay the garment flat on a heat press mat (foam or silicone recommended for even pressure).
- Set your heat press to the same temperature, (320 degrees) you will use for the transfer.
- Press the garment for 5–6 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
2. Apply the DTF Transfer (Initial Press)
- Place the cured PET film (printed and baked) with your design, white side down, onto the pre-pressed area of the garment.
- Ensure the entire design is within the heat press working area.
- Confirm your time and temperature settings are 320 degrees for 6 seconds
- Press
3. Peel the Film (Cool Peel)
- After the initial press, allow the garment and film to cool below 100°C (212°F), typically 10–20 seconds.
- Gently peel the PET film away from the design.
4. Re-Press for Durability (Highly Recommended)
- Place the garment (with the film removed) back on the heat press mat.
- Cover the printed image with butcher paper to prevent direct contact with the heat plate.
- Perform a complete secondary press cycle using the same parameters as the initial press.
- For large designs, reposition each corner and edge of the pattern at the center of the heat press and re-press each area to ensure strong edge adhesion.
5. Final Cooling & Storage
- Allow the garment to cool completely to room temperature.
- Store the finished garment in a sealed bag with a desiccant to protect from moisture.
6. Washing Guidelines
- Wait at least 24–48 hours after pressing before the first wash.
- Use mild, bleach-free detergent.
- Wash the garment inside out on a gentle cycle with water at room temperature or below 40°C.
- Avoid high-temperature drying and direct sunlight; air dry or use low-temperature drying.
